Snow Day Movie

It's Saturday at about 12:30 and I have many things to do that I should be doing rather than writing here. For instance, cleaning the cat's litter box. No really, in addition to cleaning the house because company's coming tomorrow, I have 2 appeals due - one of which I feel that I have been working on for an eternity -- it's a nasty one too and I want to be shed of it so I need to get at it. And, I'm going to the vigil mass at 4:30.

We were blanketed in snow the night before last and the sun is brightly shining and reflecting off of all that white today.

Since it was a snow day yesterday - decided to go see "Narnia," and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I must confess that what can be done with special effects kinda creeps me out. I'm afraid even the centaurs (who were supposed to be good guys) could pop up in my dreams some night. Unlike the Lord of the Rings though - in this there were relatively few really grotesque creations -- there were a few cyclops though -- I think the special effects guys can't restrain themselves from making a few grotesque characters. The animals were really cute though, and so were the children. I think C.S. Lewis would have been satisfied once he got over the shock of it looking so real. And, it was a story with good values -- the witch was bad, and the animals and people were good, and there was loyalty, love and self-sacrifice. Yay! I will definitely recommend it to others -- although I think it might be a little too scary for some little kids - because it is violent and the witch and her minions are really nasty.

You know one thing I couldn't help but notice was how much the White Witch in Narnia resembled the devil in Mel Gibson's the passion.
White Witch, played by Tilda Swinton. (Okay this was the scariest image of her because her pupils are dilated with evil -- she was a glammed up version of Satan - but still)
Satan, played by Rosalinda Celantano.

I wonder if that was done consciously?
